DIY Wedding Spot

The Dress

Welcome to my DIY wedding spot!  We're getting married in a couple of short months and I want to devote a page to my DIY wedding projects.

First the dress!  I'm making my own wedding dress after this wedding dress from Burdastyle.com.  I'm using the same bodice design but making the skirt a full 50s circle skirt!!!  I bought some Dutchess satin (fashion fabric) and silk taffeta (lining) from Spotlight for the dress and lining and some bridal tulle for the wicked petticoat!  All up it came to about $250!!!  Bargain!

I've finished the bodice
Not bad, eh?  I should mention that the top is still unfinished because I haven't added the lining yet (this will be attached at the top), so it won't look all weired when I'm done, I swear.  :P  I've also cut out the circle skirt
In case you want to know how to make a circle skirt...here's a great tutorial to show you how and some very cool examples of awesome 50s sundresses you can make!

Next step is to attach the skirt...coming up!

I'm also going to be testing some cupcake/icing recipes for the wedding and making my own awesome cupcake stand - so stay tuned!
